Top Sonoma Restaurant Closes

This past weekend was a sad one for Sonoma residents who like to eat well. The town's best restaurant, Babette's, closed its doors for good on June 19 after a mouthwatering five-year run.

"When our lease expired in February, our landlord wanted us to go month to month," said chef and co-owner Daniel Patterson. "Keeping a staff on a month-to-month basis has been really difficult. We weren't able to do it in a way that we were happy."

The 30-year-old chef is best known for his French-inspired cooking, which can range from hearty bistro fare to elegant haute cuisine. Patterson and his partner, Elizabeth Ramsey, have relocated to San Francisco, where they plan to open a new, intimate high-end restaurant in November.
