What started as a modest takeout concept in 1970 has grown to a wine bar and restaurant with three Wisconsin locations. Today, Pizza Man Tosa (the Pizza Man group's Wauwatosa location) goes beyond the casual pizzeria model with inspired takes on classics and an excellent, accessible wine list focusing on California. Though pizzas are the main attraction, chef Zak Baker offers Italian staples from chicken Parmigiana and veal Milanese to pasta dishes like baked rigatoni and fettuccine alfredo. The Wine Spectator Award of Excellence–winning program, managed by wine director Carlie Nesgodam, features 175 selections with plenty of bottles under $100. Pizza Man Tosa also offers a 375ml half-bottle option for most wines, as well as 23 by-the-glass pours and 12 wines on tap. Chef Baker creates a handful of seasonal specials to pair with the restaurant’s monthly featured winery.
