The "Big Four" Value Varietals

When you're looking for wines that will serve up plenty of flavor and not break the bank, there are several go-to varietals you can rely on. In surveying the past six months of blind tastings by Wine Spectator editors, four major grape types jumped out for delivering the goods in both quantity and quality. For the sake of simplicity, we'll call them the Big Four. Our October 15, 2015, issue features 200 reliable value bottlings of these "Big Four" wines, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Syrah and Sauvignon Blanc.
