Rum is famously unbounded by geography and regulation and little authority exists to police its production. All this makes the simple drink hard to decipher. Nevertheless, much of rum's recent growth comes at the premium end of the market. And the bang-for-the-buck ratio of quality rums is exceptional. Wine Spectator's Jack Bettridge explains.
