Dear Dr. Vinny,

When Wine Spectator says "drink now," how long could you cellar the wine?

—David J., Issaquah, Wash.

Dear David,

Drink recommendations are just that: recommendations. Always trust your own experience above anything else. The "drink now" suggestion means that the taster doesn't believe the wine will improve with cellaring. If you like your wines with some bottle age, don't agonize over the recommendation—cellar as you normally would. If you've found that your tastes generally align well with the taster's, then use it as an excuse to drink up!
