The Rhône experienced two different types of vintages in 2017 and 2018. The 2017 crop ripened quickly in hot weather, and some appellations fared better than others. Cooler, late-ripening sites with elevation did best, particularly Gigondas. Five of the eight wines here are priced less than $25, a testament to the Southern Rhône Valley's status as a terrific source of value wines.
