When these Olympic Games conclude, many of the star athletes will begin to consider new careers—and few second acts are as popular among retired athletes as making wine. (Olympic downhill skiing champ Lindsey Vonn is already well-versed in both Champagne and cheese.) So in that Olympic spirit, we’ve selected nine destinations that have held Wine Spectator Restaurant Awards for the most consecutive years in the countries that have historically earned the most Winter Olympic medals. We’ve also highlighted a South Korean Restaurant Award winner to honor this year’s host.

Wine strengths The program is strongest in French, Californian and Italian wines and features verticals from top local producers.
Cuisine Chef Jonathan Parker worked with renowned culinary figures such as Thomas Keller and Gilbert LeCoze before joining the hotel in 2008. His French menu features farm-to-table dishes such as Long Island Peking Duck, which the restaurant suggests pairing with a bottle of Pommard.
Historic beginnings The building dates to 1846, when it was built on the site of a Revolutionary War–era inn. After decades of neglect, it was purchased by present owner Theodore Conklin in 1972. Conklin renovated the space into a hotel and opened the restaurant July 4 of that year.
Nearby wineries Several wineries are just down the road, including Wölffer Estate, Channing Daughters and Duck Walk.
Intimate accommodations Eight guestrooms offer a mix of charming Victorian antiques and modern luxuries.

Off the beaten path Miles of deserted roads and heavy woods separate PM & Vänner from Sweden’s bustling cities, making the hotel-restaurant a tranquil escape.
Stunning cellar The massive inventory is stored in a temperature-controlled, high-security cellar that’s considered one of the best in Europe.

Wine strengths The wine program is strong across a range of regions, including Bordeaux, Burgundy, Germany, Champagne, Italy and Rhône. There is also a standout selection of Port.
Cuisine Chef Jörg Müller’s rustic, regional menu prominently features fish and lamb and incorporates wines into several dishes, like a beef carpaccio with Sherry-lime dressing, fried plaice in Riesling sauce and veal with Champagne mustard.
Enchanting environment Faded red bricks adorned with clusters of rose vines give a homey feel to the 19-room hotel. Two private cottages are also available.
Founding chef German culinary figure Jörg Müller owns the property with his wife, Barbara. In addition to his position as chef, Müller built the wine list and grew it into one of the top programs in the country.

Wine strengths Wine director Frank Bläuel’s Best of Award of Excellence–winning program has an extensive selection of Austrian bottles and also excels in Bordeaux and Italy.
Cuisine Chef Georg Bläuel creates hearty regional cuisine and offers wine pairings available à la carte or through a prix-fixe menu of four to six courses. Examples of past pairings include scallops and pumpkin with F.X Pichler Riesling Smaragd Trocken Wachau Loibner Beg 2003 and wild duck with La Morandina Castiglione Tinella Barbaresco Bricco Spessa 2003.
Family-owned for decades The Bläuel family has owned the property since 1951. Restaurant guests can book a “diner historique” and enjoy 28 dishes created using more than 40 years of the family’s recipes.
Scenic oasis The 46-room hotel is surrounded by nearly 35 acres of sprawling meadows but is still just a few miles from Vienna.

Wine strengths Hans-Peter Friedli’s 42-page list spans more than 20 countries but excels in French regions. The program is also strong in selections from Switzerland and Tuscany. Sandro Bernasconi, whose family has owned the hotel since 1983, serves as sommelier and general manager.
Cuisine Chef Hans Bundi serves steak house–style dishes influenced by Swiss cuisine and ingredients, like a duet of beef and salmon tartar, chateaubriand steak with béarnaise sauce and sliced veal “Zurich” style with a mushroom sauce. Two creamy whisky sauces are also available using Ardbeg and Edradour aged for 10 years in the hotel’s cellar, which features one of the largest selections of whiskies in the world.
Surrounded by Swiss landscapes The hotel immerses guests in Switzerland’s natural beauty, with stunning views from each of the 50 rooms and wrap-around windows in the dining room overlooking Lake St. Moritz.
Prized selections The cellar boasts a bevy of trophy bottles like 1961 Château Margaux ($1,650) and a 74-bottle vertical of Château Mouton-Rothschild Pauillac going back to 1918.

Cuisine The regional menu is designed with wine in mind, and chef Turo Väärti will sometimes even tweak a recipe to better complement a particular bottle.
Close culinary team Owners Samuil Angelov, Henri Alén and Timo Linnamäki are longtime friends who say they drew inspiration from French and Italian bistros to create a place where they would want to spend their spare time.
Flexible format The restaurant will serve any bottle under $98 by the glass, and the list notes that if guests don’t find what they’re looking for among the 410 selections, a book of specialties from the cellar is also available.

Wine strengths Instead of boasting lengthy verticals, wine director Daniel Ness chooses to be more selective, offering only what he considers to be the best bottles on his 550-selection list. The program features a healthy mix of Old and New World regions with strengths in Burgundy, Bordeaux, Italy and Germany.
Cuisine Chef Bent Stiansen’s 18-course French menu changes every three weeks and starts at $312, with wine pairings for an additional $272. There is also an eight-course daily tasting menu available in four, five or six courses starting at $190.
Historic house Built in 1640, the building is one of the oldest in the city and was inhabited by several prominent political figures before the Stiansen family converted it into a restaurant in 1994.

Vin.ga pairs its 800-selection wine list with nightly live jazz.

Cuisine Chef Allen Suh creates decadent wine-friendly dishes influenced by French and Italian cuisine such as pappardelle with duck ragu and chicken truffle roulade.
Unparalleled selection Vin.ga claims to have the largest wine selection in Korea.
Fine-dining fixtures The restaurant offers classic caviar service to pair with its more than 40 Champagnes, and various cheese carts with house-made charcuterie plates. There are live jazz performances every night in the dining room.
