At Osteria Mattone, brothers and owners Daniel and Ryan Pernice bring refined yet casual dining inspired by Italy’s neighborhood eateries to Roswell, Ga.'s historic district. Ryan oversees general operations, while Daniel manages the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence–winning wine program. Most of the 180 selections are Italian, covering the boot from Friuli to Sicily. A menu sidebar of “Sommelier’s Thoughts” provides helpful hints and information for navigating the list. Chef Eric Sell’s menu focuses on Roman cuisine in the traditional format of salads, antipasti, pizzas, pastas and entrées like grilled branzino and oven-roasted duck. The restaurant hosts events throughout the year, including seasonal wine tastings where guests can try new additions to the list while snacking on meats and cheeses.
