Notes from the Coast

On the road again

Notes from the Coast
Senior editor Kim Marcus (Rick Wenner)
From the Sep 30, 2021, issue

For the Sept. 30, 2021, Pinot Noir cover story, Wine Spectator senior editor Kim Marcus set out in May on his first vineyard tour post COVID-19 vaccine. Charting over 1,000 miles along the Sonoma Coast, he eventually narrowed in on the northern coast, in particular the Fort Ross-Seaview appellation, from which many top producers source Pinot Noir. But there are so many more fascinating vineyards, wines and winemakers to discover along the Coast. Read more about his journey, including visits with Ted Lemon of Littorai (which epitomizes the southern coast) and Thomas Brown at Aston in the wild, far northern reaches of Anapolois.
