Leaf Roll Virus Causing Headaches In South Africa's Vineyards

Leaf roll, a viral disease that strikes grapevines, is proving to be a major problem for South African wineries, especially those in Stellenbosch, the country's premier wine region. The disease, which reduces vine yields and can leave grapes unripened, has vintners worried; if the problem goes unchecked, South Africa's reputation could be hurt by the production of too many "green," bitter wines.
