Cabernet Sauvignon was first planted in Chile in the 19th century and is now the country's predominant grape. In fact, Chile grows more Cabernet than Bordeaux or Napa Valley. Though it first gained a following as a value-oriented red with good varietal character, the past decade has seen the emergence of a handful of world-class Chilean Cabernets.
