Helen Turley, the recipient of Wine Spectator’s Distinguished Service Award in 2010, is behind the famed Marcassin Chardonnays, while Richard Graff revived a bankrupt Chalone Vineyard and put its Chardonnay on the map. Each of these visionaries brought their own approach and philosophy to Chardonnay, but they all shared a belief in its potential for greatness in California.
