Australia's Tough Vintage Takes Its Toll

Australia's 2008 harvest has been a costly one. As of the end of March, three people had died and several others suffered severe injuries in a series of winery accidents. Early in the season, a gas explosion at a winery in the Hunter Valley killed winemaker Trevor Drayton and his cousin, Edgar Orgo, and seriously injured an assistant winemaker.
