For three years running, readers have traded info on good buys around the country

For a decade, WineSpectator.com visitors have used the site's Forums to share information on hundreds of topics, from great wine finds to personal tasting notes to restaurant and travel recommendations. This weekend, the Forums hit another milestone: A thread that has been kept active for nearly three straight years hit 100,000 page views.

In December 2004, a post alerting Forums members to wine deals available at the national retail chain Costco appeared in the Wine Conversations section. Since that time, that post has received nearly 800 updates from hundreds of Forums members, who traded details about newly available wines, their store location and current price, along with buying tips. As of Nov. 4, the thread had been viewed more than 100,000 times.

The Costco Wine Alerts thread, which was spawned by a February 2003 post detailing the availability of 2000 Bordeaux at the retail chain, started with announcements of a range of wines, from 2004 Kim Crawford Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand (available at the time for $12.69) to first-growth Bordeaux such as 2001 Château Lafite Rothschild ($129.99). More recently, wines mentioned in the thread include the Mondavi Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley Reserve 2004, Antinori Toscana Solaia 2003 and Penfolds Shiraz South Australia Grange 2002.

The WineSpectator.com Forums now claim more than 11,000 members, and membership is free.
