Three Restaurants Earn New Grand Awards in 2008

Alto and Del Posto in New York and Restaurant Guy Savoy in Las Vegas join Wine Spectator's list of the world's best wine destinations

Three restaurants have earned Wine Spectator's highest recognition for wine selection and service, the Grand Award, joining 70 others who have won the honor. Alto and Del Posto in New York and Restaurant Guy Savoy in Las Vegas are recognized in the Aug. 31 issue of the magazine, arriving soon at newsstands.

All three restaurants deliver exceptional cuisine, service and ambience; each offers a distinctive approach to their wine programs. Del Posto concentrates on Italian wines, including 380 Barolos. Alto also has an excellent selection of Italian wines, but adds offerings from Bordeaux, Burgundy, California and the Rhône. Restaurant Guy Savoy, at Caesars Palace on the Las Vegas strip, is deep in classic Bordeaux and Burgundy.

Established in 1981, Wine Spectator's Grand Award recognizes the world's best restaurants for wine. Only 73 establishments currently hold our highest honor, including the three new winners in 2008.

Wine Spectator's Restaurant Awards program reached an unprecedented mark in 2008 as 4,129 restaurants won recognition. Of those, 3,254 restaurants earned the Award of Excellence; 802 earned the Best of Award of Excellence; and 73 earned the program's top honors, the Grand Award. There are award winners in all 50 states and in more than 50 countries around the world.
