With myriad cool microclimates and minerally soils, South Africa is ideally suited to white wine production. South African vintners typically produce both their Chardonnays and Sauvignon Blancs in clean, bright, unadorned styles, though some, such as Meerlust, Glen Carlou and Rustenberg, go for the riper, fuller-bodied profile.
