2006 was not a strong vintage for the Loire, which experienced harvest-time rains that diminished the quality of the crop. The eastern end of the valley, the home of Sauvignon Blanc, wasn't hit as hard as the rest of the region, however, so there are still a good number of outstanding and very good wines to choose from.
