Despite rising prices and a weak dollar, the Rhône is still a good source of value

Because of the heat and drought in the Rhône during 2003, there are a number of unbalanced, highly tannic wines. One way around this is to look to the wines of so-called lesser appellations. Since these appellations typically produce wines with less structure, they don't fall victim to the pratfall of '03s.
