Angelo Gaja likes to say that you never really know how Nebbiolo is going to develop, even in the cellar. He wasn't sure at first about the 2003 vintage but he's now happy with the quality of his single vineyard 2003s, especially after such an extremely hot growing season when the sun literally baked grapes in the best vineyards in Barbaresco and Barolo regions.
