There's nothing simple about the northeastern Italian white wines listed here. They show a purity of fruit and mineral character that is hard to match in any white producing area on the wine map, from Schioppetto's beautifully fruity and exquisitely balanced 2007 Sauvignon (2007 is a very good year here) to the powerful, structured Chardonnay Castel Giovanelli 2006, made by one of Alto Adige's best co-op wineries, Viticoltori Caldaro, located near lake Caldaro in Alto Adige.
