Valle d'Aosta is Italy's smallest wine region, nestled beneath the Alpine slopes in the far northwest of the country, near the borders of France and Switzerland. It's also perhaps the most obscure region on the Italian wine map, but the quality of its red and white wines has been on the increase in recent years, giving the region better recognition.
