Zinfandel lovers haven't had it this good in a decade. The 2006 and 2005 vintages offer ample opportunity to stock up on California's hardiest red for both immediate drinking and short term cellaring. If the 2004 and 2005 Zins were a study in contrast—one fleshy and ripe, the other dense but complex—then the best 2006s offer a little of each, with fruit-forward and agile flavors as well as good structure without chewy tannins.
