David Arthur looked to be one of Napa's star properties when its Cabernets debuted in the 1990s. The Elevation 1147 bottling in particular was often amazingly complex. But the wines were also inconsistent, great one year, less so the next, with Merlot and a super Tuscan-inspired cuvée Merritagio often less impressive.
