Tasting Highlights: Barbera
From Italy's Piedmont region, Barbera shines in 2003
The 2003 vintage for Piedmont was not an easy one. Many of the wines, particularly the Nebbiolo-based Barolos and Barbarescos, are overly alcoholic and lack definition. The abundance of heat and sunshine during the growing season was just too much for many of the vineyards.
