Sometimes wine producers as well as critics can underestimate a vintage at an early stage, and that's what happened with 2003 in Piedmont, at least with Barbarescos and Barolos. I remember speaking to numerous wine producers in 2004 about the previous vintage in Piedmont and they all said they were disappointed.
