Three of 2004's five most promising wines come from St.-Emilion and Pomerol

Some vintners on Bordeaux's Right Bank, particularly in St.-Emilion, had big smiles on Thursday when I visited their châteaus to taste their 2004 reds. They knew they had made wines that were outstanding to extraordinary in a less-than-ideal vintage, and they were more than happy to prove it.
