Although Tuscany and Piedmont may be more familiar to many wine lovers, vintners in central Italy's Abruzzi region have been making wine from the indigenous Montepulciano grape for centuries. High production limits in this area mean that Montepulciano d'Abruzzo is often a great value when quality is high as well.
