At 30 years, this vintage is ripe for drinking, and if you don't already have the wines in your cellar, they can still be found for reasonable prices
The number seven is lucky for many people—gamblers, in particular, but also wine collectors. Those with Vintage Port in their cellars certainly have an affinity for the number, because many of the best vintages end in seven, including 1997, 1977, 1947, 1927 and 1917.
