New Wine Spectator Grand Award Winners

The Grand Award -- our top honor -- was the start of it all back in 1981. It was awarded to just one new entrant this year: Aureole in Las Vegas' Mandalay Bay Hotel & Casino. We also upgraded four previous Best of Award of Excellence winners: New York's Lespinasse and Veritas; the Sooke Harbour House in Sooke, British Columbia; and Mary Elaine's in Scottsdale, Ariz. Currently 87 restaurants retain the award, less than 4 percent of all the establishments we honor.

Grand Award winners offer unparalleled wine cellars, with comprehensive coverage of many wine-producing regions coupled with often mind-boggling vintage depth and a selection of the world's best wine producers. With their superior wine service and cuisine, these restaurants truly merit being a destination for any serious wine lover.
