Dave Guffy is departing Cambria Winery & Vineyard in California's Santa Maria Valley and joining The Hess Collection Winery in Napa Valley as its new winemaker. Randle Johnson, who has been the winemaker at Hess since it was founded in 1982, will begin working on long-term strategic planning and new projects.

Guffy spent nearly a decade at Cambria, part of Kendall-Jackson's Artisans & Estates collection of wineries. Cambria focuses on estate-grown Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Syrah.

Hess, best known for its Cabernet and Chardonnay, has two major lines of wines: One grown in the Mount Veeder appellation, and a second, the lower-priced Hess Select brand, which carries the general California designation.
