Saturday's live auction saw several changes in format; an evening start time, fewer lots and a nightclub-style atmosphere.   Wine Spectator editor and publisher Marvin R. Shanken donated a lot of 14 6-liter bottles of Napa wine decorated with reproductions of Belle Epoque posters.

The high bid of the day came from auction regular John Gorman, who paid $650,000 for a lot offered by vintner Ann Colgin.   For their auction lot, brothers Peter and Robert Mondavi teamed up to make wine together for the first time since the 1960s.

One of the biggest bidders at the event, Joy Craft (left), who picked up the Mondavi brothers' lot, toasts with friends.   Shari and Garen Staglin, center, celebrate the $221,000 in bids earned by their barrel lot of 2003 Rutherford Cabernet.
