Valentine's Day. Far from its beginnings as a humble celebration of doomed medieval affection, it has become a sometimes stressful test of relationships both young and old. Cards. Candy. Balloons. Roses. Negligées. Where will it end?

Wine Spectator wants to make it easy on you. Over the past few years, we've amassed a veritable cornucopia of romantic tips -- everything from seductive sweets to allegedly aphrodisiac bivalves. And, of course, all the best places to go for a little February canoodling, in (for example) the City of Lights or by the crashing From Here to Eternity surf of Hawaii. Closer to home, we've got some good ideas for romantic dinners that will keep you out of the doghouse. And let's not forget a few Valentine's Day essentials: the caviar is abundant, and the Champagne flows, as it should. So check out our special Valentine's Day package. And remember, we really should keep meeting this way.
