The Champagne house of Krug has finally unveiled its 1988 vintage after more than a decade of aging. Although the grande marque is known for the extended aging its vintage wines enjoy, this introduction is unusual: It is the first time in Krug's 155-year history that the vintage chronology was reversed. Consumers began popping the cork on the more quickly matured 1989 vintage Champagne nearly two years ago.Despite its mature golden color, the elegant 1988's flavors are still youthfully fresh and bright with a nervy acidity. The suggested retail price is $220.
