Health Q&A: Does Drinking Wine Put Weight On?

Q: Does drinking red wine put weight on?

A: No more so than the other components of your daily diet: A 5 ounce serving of red table wine contains 125 calories, while white wine averages 121 calories per glass. As with anything you eat or drink, calories can add up, and overindulgence can lead to weight gain. To make sure you don't add on extra pounds, budget your caloric intake appropriately.
