Christopher Burr has resigned as the international head of Christie's wine department, the auction house has confirmed. Burr, who holds accreditation as a Master of Wine, is leaving the firm after a two-year tenure to pursue a fine-wine Internet venture, according to press director Andrie Corroon of Christie's New York office.

Corroon said that Rosemary Neal, international business director for Christie's wine auctions, will preside over the department while the company interviews new candidates. Burr, who is based in London, was unavailable for comment.
