John Hart has announced that Michael Davis and Paul Hart (no relation), former senior vice presidents of Sotheby's wine department, have joined his Chicago-based retail firm, John Hart Fine Wine, as executive vice presidents.

In 1993, Davis and Hart founded their own wine auction business, Davis & Co., which they sold to Sotheby's in 1998. Together, they oversaw Sotheby's Chicago wine sales until fall 2001, when Sotheby's consolidated its wine operations in New York. They left Sotheby's in October 2003.

John Hart entered the fine-wine business in 1973 and was a co-founder of the Chicago Wine Co. auction house. In the early 1990s, he served as a senior wine consultant to Christie's Chicago, where Davis and Paul Hart also worked prior to establishing their own firm. "We're a great fit," John Hart said.

John Hart Fine Wine specializes in fine and rare wines of impeccable provenance, often sourcing vintage treasures direct from the producer.
