Christopher Burr, who resigned as the international head of Christie's wine department last month, has been appointed chairman of uvine, a London-based online wine exchange. The site, which has not yet launched, plans to offer a system of buying and selling fine wines that is similar to a stock exchange, according to the company.

Burr, who holds accreditation as a Master of Wine, left Christie's after a two-year tenure. Rosemary Neal, international business director for Christie's wine auctions, is presiding over the department while the company interviews new candidates , according to press director Andrie Corroon of Christie's New York office.
