Napa Valley sparkling wine producer Domaine Chandon has hired Frederic Cumenal as president and CEO, replacing Bill Newlands, who left the winery early this year.

Cumenal will move to Napa Valley from France, where he has been general manager of Moet-Hennessy Europe since 1995. Moet-Hennessy and Domaine Chandon are both owned by French luxury goods giant LVMH Moet-Hennessy Louis Vuitton.

Newlands left Domaine Chandon to take a position with Canandaigua Brands' table wine business. He has since moved on to become CEO at VirtualVineyards.com, a Web-based wine retailer.
