Q: I received a bottle of Château Lafite Rothschild Paulliac 1888 as a gift from my grandfather who worked as a seaman on a Greek ship years ago. He said he got it as a gift from one of the wealthy customers. What is it selling for at auction?--Roshan Vancuylenberg

A: The last sale of Château Lafite Rothschild 1888 at an auction took place about four years ago when a single bottle sold for $1,638. A bottle sampled by the Wine Spectator tasting panel a decade ago, however, scored 82 points. It should be quite light and faded now, a historical curiosity.
