Now, after three months of light, crisp, refreshing wines, after too, too many cases of chilled whites, the time has come to put aside those simple slurps and get back to some real wine. Red wine. The wine that welcomes autumn.
Mind you, we're not suggesting you yank out all the stops and uncork a few bottles of husky Côte-Rôtie. That would be rash. No, you need to ease your way back into reds, just like you ease your way back into classes, or work, or whatever you do that really picks up in the fall.
Wine Spectator Online has put together a list of possibilities for you to
peruse. Wine that, in the estimation of our senior editors, will reacquaint
you with what it means to drinker heartier juice. Reentry reds, if you will.
Behold. Partake. And don't worry about blowing the budget--these wines are
all studiously affordable.
