A "golden October" in 2001 elicited splendid results at most Riesling quality levels.     Top-Scoring German Wines       Best Value German Wines       Updated German Vintage Chart     Late in November 2001, Germany was shivering under gray skies and steady rain, but the growers whom I was visiting could barely contain their excitement.
