Where should I sell my 2 bottles of Lafite?

Q: I have two bottles of 2000 Château Lafite which I am considering parting with. What are your suggestions as to finding a buyer?—Catherine, Denver

A: Although your Lafites are quite valuable ($2,452 per bottle according to the latest Wine Spectator auction index), most of the major auction houses won't accept a consignment that small. I would suggest you contact winebid.com, winegavel.com or bonhams.com. Indicate where and when you purchased the wines and any relevant storage information. If you have a good relationship with your local wine merchant, you might approach him for a cash or trade deal.
