Washington state vintners got nearly ideal weather during both the 2006 and 2007 growing seasons. Summers were warm, cooling in September so the grapes could ripen fully without amping up too much on alcohol. The results are especially rewarding in the Bordeaux varieties, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.
