Chuck Wagner - 2007
Chuck Wagner was barely out of high school when he helped his father, Charlie, launch Caymus Vineyards. The winery became part of a new era of small, family-owned wineries in the valley, and its top Cabernet bottling, called Special Selection, rapidly emerged as one of Napa’s first cult wines. It has twice earned Wine Spectator’s Wine of the Year honor—the 1984 in 1989, the 1990 in 1994. With his sons, Charlie and Joe, Wagner now farms about 1,600 acres of vines in California, producing 200,000 cases of wine a year between four labels.
