Francis Ford Coppola - 2003
Francis Ford Coppola has approached the wine business with the same energy and vision he has devoted to his Academy Award—winning films. Since his 1975 purchase of the old Gustave Niebaum estate in Napa Valley, he has managed, with characteristic verve, to turn a prime vineyard into a multifaceted major production. Over time, his premium label, Rubicon, has proved to be one of California’s benchmark Cabernets. In 1995, he reunited the historic Inglenook estate, an expression of Coppola’s ability to combine steadfast independence with a reverence for tradition. Photographed in 2000.
