1996 Distinguished Service Award: Agustin Huneeus

Posted: October 12, 2007

Agustin Huneeus - 1996

Born in Chile, Agustin Huneeus has spent virtually his entire professional life in the wine industry. Moving between South America and New York in his youth, he entered the wine business in Chile, as CEO of Concha y Toro winery. In 1985, Huneeus became a partner and president of Franciscan Estate Selections. He set about transforming the company from a volume producer to a premium winemaking operation with interests in California and Chile. Huneeus sold Franciscan in 1999 and has since devoted his primary efforts to the development of Quintessa, a single-vineyard winery in Napa Valley. Photographed in 1993.
