chardonnay
Chardonnay occupies a considerable portion of retail shelves, comes in all price ranges and is the default pour for "white wine" in many restaurants.
Chardonnay is a hardy grape that ripens easily and thrives in a wide range of climates. It is also a malleable grape that lacks assertive flavors and readily transmits the influences of soil and climate. The popular varietal is capable of conveying a very broad range of flavors and is rarely blended with other grape varieties. Chardonnay tends to be rounder, more alcoholic and more ageworthy than other white varietals. Varied winemaking techniques produce different styles of wine.
