Personal Wine List Values Help

Wine Spectator's Personal Wine List (PWL) automatically provides a value for each wine on your list. These values may come from one of three sources:

  • REL: The wine's release price, as provided by the winery
  • AUC: The wine's most recent average auction price, as tracked in our Auction Price Database.
  • USR: A value you enter yourself

These values are calculated in a particular order, as follows:

  1. Top priority is USR: if you enter a value, that value will always be displayed, even if we have auction data for that wine.
  2. If you have not entered a value, we will display the AUC value for the wine if we have it in our Auction Price Database. (Note: auction prices are specific to bottle sizes. If you change the size of a bottle and the AUC value disappears, that means we have no auction data for that wine at that particular bottle size.)
  3. If we have neither USR nor AUC values, the PWL will display the REL value.
