
In the space of one month, E. & J. Gallo, the world's largest wine producer, has acquired two well-known names in the California wine industry: Louis M. Martini and Mirassou Vineyards. Such deals are rare for the California wine giant, which generally prefers to build its own brands rather than buy existing businesses.
