Claudio Basla's warm office was a welcome retreat one chilly morning this spring after a motorcycle ride from my house, near Arezzo, through the northern vineyards of Montalcino. Basla is part-owner and manager of Altesino, in my opinion the greatest Brunello producer of them all.
